When you think of "text" what do you think of; an article, a book, the internet? Those are all readable and filled with words, which is the dictionary definition of text and leads people to only think of text being just words. But really, what is text beyond words? If you open up your mind and think above the normal you will realize words are old, reading now is more than just literally reading something.
*Thinking of another example of "text"... a picture!* Think even more beyond the given... We see someone walking past us with a big smile; we automatically think they are happy. We see a Cadillac driving past us we automatically assume the person driving it has money. We read people and things on a daily basis and still we don't realize text is not only what you physically read in words it is also how you express yourself. I’m sure you or someone you know has a tattoo, does the tattoo mean something? Usually tattoos have a lot of meaning whether it stands out as a given or you have to ask the person whats the background about it but either way it’s still expressing the person with text directly on them. Your wardrobe also expresses who you are on a casual basis wearing all black with chains dangling from your pants or wearing a Juicy Couture track suite. Our hair and makeup can express who we are in more of a hidden way it relates to text. This is text, judgment. The word text I believe is very society based and it enables us to think above and beyond. Society enforces us to think of text a certain way, how people should be read. For instance, if you are going to a business meeting you have to look professional or if you are going to a job interview to be one step above what the job entitle to make you look better. The person that is dressed more nicely will have a bigger influence on the employer and this is because of society. We go off “text” of people but don’t really get to know them.
I believe this word “text” is a very controversial word if you sit back and think about it may think it can be just expressing yourself but sometimes its society making you express yourself in a certain way. No matter how you think of the word “text” it is no longer just words, it’s a bigger and broader point of view.
